Dear Artscenico Community,
As spring evolves and the temperatures start to feel more inviting, we are preparing for our annual Spring Board Meeting in Berlin. At the end of April, we will gather to plan Artscenico’s next steps, prepare for the General Assembly 2026 in Amsterdam, and exchange the latest developments across our national film industries — a moment to reconnect, reflect, and look ahead together.
And there is much to look ahead to. Cinema has never been just entertainment. It is memory, resistance, and imagination made visible. In times when the freedom to tell stories is under pressure — from political interference, funding cuts, and the silencing of voices — our work as filmmakers, designers, and culture makers matters more than ever.
In this issue, you will find: The story of Tricia Tuttle and the international outcry in defense of artistic freedom at the Berlinale, a letter from ACM on building ONE EUROPE — and a warm invitation to the General Assembly in Amsterdam this November. About the new German film funding legislation: what it means for the industry, and who is still being left behind.
The AFCCA’s newly published costume guide « Designing Responsible Costumes » — a practical resource for greener, healthier productions; an update from CST on studio safety and sustainability standards and finaly news from the Tampere Film Festival and the BFDG- British Film Designers Guild- Production Design Awards.
There is much to celebrate, much to fight for, and much to do together.
Let’s get to it.
With warm regards,
Maximilian Lange
